| Like many complementary therapies, there is
ample anecdotal evidence to indicate that Bowen is effective. Case studies,
testimonials and letters of thanks abound.
Scientific research is fairly limited, due to difficulties of getting
funding and in making a bodywork therapy fit a research model designed for
an inanimate intervention like a drug.
However collagen fibres, which are present in muscles, tendons, and
connective tissues in the body, have been found to generate electrical
impulses. These impulses have been measured and are known to have healing
properties. And Bowen has been found to change the viscosity of blood, which
may indicate a role in the body's internal communication. |
