If any part of your spinal column become misaligned,
the transmission of nerve impulses along the related spinal nerves may be distorted or
blocked. Misalignments can occur for many reasons, most commonly incorrect lifting, car or
sporting accidents, childbirth, falls, stress and poor posture.
McTimoney technique assesses the skeletal system as a whole, paying
particular attention to the atlas (the top bone in the spine) and the sacroiliac joints
(at the back of the pelvis). If the pelvis is unbalanced, this may have an impact on the
alignment of the lumbar spine (lower back) and any impact may be compensated for
throughout the spinal column.
The
McTimoney whole body approach also encompasses attention to the lower limbs, as any making
changes to the pelvis automatically alters the distribution of forces through the knees
and feet. |
