What to expect from the first visit

Your first treatment will include a full case history, covering your general health as well as details of your symptoms. This helps analyse your particular situation and assess the appropriateness of chiropractic for you.

With your consent, the case history will be followed by a physical examination, and orthopaedic and neurological tests as necessary. For this and the remainder of the treatment you will be asked to undress to your underwear. Privacy will be provided while you undress and you will be offered a gown.

If Alison suspects a problem which warrants medical investigation or an X-ray, you will be referred to your GP. Alison works in co-operation with GPs wherever possible and, with your consent, will write to your doctor informing them of your treatment.

A first appointment typically takes up to two hours and may or may not include adjustments. Chiropractic is a partnership and you can expect the have explained the findings of the examination, a proposed treatment plan and any risks associated with your condition explained before commencing care.
